Atherosclerosis becomes reversible

New England Journal of Medicine 2009 und Parks et al. Journal of Clinical Investigation 2009

Latest research results show that arteriosclerosis (vascular deterioration, plaque formation) need not necessarily lead irreversibly to heart attacks and strokes. The paths via which fat-laden foam cells find their way back through the vascular wall have recently been discovered. The plaque material is then transported in the bloodstream to the liver, where further metabolisation and decomposition take place.

The key active ingredients used to prevent plaque formation are vascular-protective polyphenols and certain antioxidants, which neutralise reactive oxygen molecules. High quality pure extracts from grape skins and pips contain high concentrations of these protective agents.
